The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and a Federal Intelligence Agency (FIA) have arrested three suspected terrorists linked to the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in two operations in Karachi, a private media outlet reported.

The arrests took place near Lasbela roundabout and in the Purani Sabzi Mandi area. Officials also recovered two hand grenades and an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) from the suspects.

In the first operation, officials arrested two suspected BLA members, identified as Sajid Yousuf and Shaukat Ali and seized two hand grenades from them.

A CTD spokesperson said that the suspects were involved in targeted killings and attacks on Frontier Corps (FC) vehicles. He added that they remained in contact with their commander and were planning attacks on sensitive locations and security installations.

During the second operation, officials arrested Dad Muhammad, also known as Adil, over his alleged links to the TTP. The CTD spokesperson said that officers recovered a locally made IED from him.

The spokesperson added that the suspect had received training in Afghanistan and was allegedly planning to target sensitive sites.

The CTD has registered three cases against the arrested suspects.
