Indian-origin Sikh restaurateur who mocked Gaza begs for help to save his restaurant

London-based Indian-origin Sikh restaurateur and social media activist Harman Singh Kapoor has asked the public to help stop his restaurant Singh’s Dining from closing.

“Today, I’m swallowing my pride and asking for your help to save my restaurant,” Kapoor wrote while sharing a video on X.

Kapoor alleged that Google is accepting only fake one-star reviews and rejecting genuine five-star reviews from customers. He said this has hurt his business. He also said he owes rent and his landlord is threatening court action.

He asked followers to book a table, stating that the restaurant is proudly non-halal. He asked people who cannot visit to share his post.

“Every booking, share, and bit of support means more than you can imagine,” he wrote.

Many users replied with criticism and referred to an earlier video Kapoor posted about Gaza.

One user wrote, “He mocked the suffering of kids in Gaza.” Another wrote, “This is the racist dude.” One post stated: “He attacked muslims thinking it would get them customers. It didn’t.” Another asked, “So the racism didn’t work?”

“It was only ever a matter of time before these two … came out with the begging bowl,” one post observed.

In that video, Kapoor held a phone showing an aerial image of a building circled in red. “Now I am asking Bibi and Israel Defense Force… why the f**k this building is still standing in Gaza,” he said. The person filming asked whether it was the only building left, and Kapoor replied, “Yeah, why?”

Footage he shared identifies the building as Al-Qadisia Girls School and says it is “apparently being used as an Israeli base in occupied Gaza”.

Kapoor previously ran Rangrez, an Indian restaurant in Hammersmith that refused to serve halal meat. He announced its closure after 16 years and cited financial pressure, repeated disturbances and fears for staff safety. He also said that coordinated negative reviews targeted the restaurant.

Police arrested him in March.

Kapoor has a history of controversies, including racism, political posts on social media and anti-Islamic messages.
